(o the fool)

(o the fool)

happy girl.  at least she smiles most of
the time.   & she’ll tell you.   “i’m a happy
head”.   but sometimes she isn’t.   she’s in love
with life.   ready for anything.   great or crappy.

laughs as she talks.   always in a hurry.
always something to do.   somewhere to go.
detailed list-making or things get blurry.
cleaning.   writing.   mixing up some bread dough.

then out the door.   into the golden day.
ready for anything.   country.   city.
meeting friends.   strangers.   some say  come away.
come away.   she has a large black kitty.

she sings loud enough for people to hear.
she has many gifts.   a natural-born seer.

i was going through a poetry project that i had done in college which was an attempt to bring together the tarot & poetry with pictures ... i made up a set of 21 cards, with a poem on one side & a picture on the other.  because i came up with the idea so late in the semester, i didn't have enough pictures for all the poems & i have been playing with this idea ever since.  this morning, i scanned all the pictures i had & decided to discard most of them but i did find this one:

which was the original design for (o the fool) poem.  i had completely forgotten about it & i was amazed at how close it was to the one i made the other day.  the same grinning girl in the same red leather jacket & red pumps (of course that's me in 1987) & a black cat as companion instead of a dog (tommy-cat, no longer with us but not forgotten!!).  i really liked this card better than the other one, although i liked the brightness of the other one better.  so i decided to play with this one a little bit ...

i have to say i do like this.  i miss the yellow sky of the other fool card but i think this one is the best one yet.  for someone with almost zero artistic ability, i'm quite pleased.
